Hi Guys

Have been reading the threads in this forum for some time and have finally taken the plunge and bought an 04 Gallardo E-Gear.

I am picking it up tomorrow and cant wait :-)

I am thinking of getting the SatNav module installed and wondered if anyone had done this cheaper then what Lamborghini London are quoting. They quoted £1600 plus vat for the unit and about 5 hours of labour!!!

I think i did read a thread that someone did it much cheaper. If anyone could point me in the right direction i would be grateful.

James

you can do it much cheaper, it only took an hour to fit in a S4 i had and its the same unit.

personally i think the VWAG sat nav system is rubbish, having had 3 versions of it now for the price the options are terrible, the Pioneer AVID system costs about 1000, takes about 1 hour to fit (fits in a standard slot with a motorised screen) and is a much better nav system, with touchscreen and lots of goodies.

If it was a choice between OEM or pioneer id take the pioneer every time.

hope you enjoy your Gallardo.

sorry if this is next line is a close-copy of the reply to another (new or soon-to be) Gallardo owner!

LCUK's resident Gallardo-owning committee chap is otherwise occupied this evening in a city called Birmingham for some reason I probably cant talk about.

... but, CrikeyMikey will be along tomorrow, I'm sure!

Once he gets in touch or replies here, you might want to steer clear of too much discussion about the satnav in his Gallardo as, clever chap he is, he tried to update his with some Audi software... net result: knackered satnav and eventually a gaping hole in dashboard with a printed map stuck on with sellotape™ and the sounds of chuckling and laughter travelling to the UK from Ingolstadt and Sant'Agata - as Mike will obviously read this at some point tomorrow, hangover depending, he will probably just send an email with an built in data-wrecking virus or settle for a nose-clearing charge up the M6 with a big stick with a nail through it waiting, meaningfully, in the passenger footwell...
