Fuel sender update - very strange!

The apparent fuel gauge problem (see other post)arose last Saturday. I'd been out for the afternoon and left the car on the drive before putting it away later. All was well except for the strange fuel gauge behavior. On Sunday I went to start the Tiv and it was dead in terms of starting although the dash lights all came on OK. After some testing I came to the conclusion that the battery had gone, even though it was only 16 mths old with a 3 year warranty. The battery has now been replaced and put on the car this evening and lo and behold the fuel gauge reads correctly immediately. As the gauge reads the voltage (I think) I don't understand how a battery that is down on one cell - maybe - can make it read at the top unless it is something to do with the charging voltage or something....? Anyway the main thing is that all now seems to be well!

But thanks for the inputs re the fuel sender previously. Now what's the weather for Chatsworth?? Hope to see some of the Ss there!

I must do as I've had it for 10 years now. I keep thinking of upgrading but it is so nice to drive and I only get bollo**ed by she who thinks she must be obeyed if I go too fast in it anyway ....
