Source of nice mesh for Griff grill?

I'm looking for some nice bright hexagonal mesh to go where the front No plate was. I took the plate off just to see what it looked like last weekend and now have an adhesive one in place on the snout. The grill opening does look a bit bare now though and obviously somewhat unfinished.

I have seen some nice mesh grills on the new Jags and such like so for a fairly small outlay I thought I would have a go. After all, it is a very quick and easy fix to put back to original.

Am I best off just googling the various custom car sites or does anyone know of any particularly mesh grill mesh please?

Halfords (or most other 'stylin..') accessory places will do this. I've certainly seen the stainless welded mesh sold there.

Hi Burriana got griff myself same colour as yours, i think your griff looks the bis with out the mesh mate.

I'd be inclined to put the mesh behind the bar that splits the opening to make it look less bland, but that's just my taste.

I dont know as if they dont have enough problems with getting cool air in you want to block it of(to a degree granted ) Does it have some mesh allready behind that in front of teh Rad?

Agree with the Halfrauds suggestion. A chap on the Chim forum did his front grill and bonnet vents with it a year or so ago and it looked great.

But the mesh will still let a load more air in than a solid plastic plate Simon won't it! To be honest, the car was running cooler now anyway with the lower temp otter, and I just did this more as a "wonder what it would look like" kinda thing ... and found that I quite sort of liked it.

The reason I want the mesh is because I think it looks a bit messy with just the bar showing and, the bar also has the holes for the No plate screws which looks a bit messy even if i did touch them in. It may look better if I had the bar sprayed properly, but it is not worth going that far in my opinion because if I sell the car the next owner may well want it back to original.

I tried Halfords at White City in Manchester and they only had the really flimsy fine meshing, no good for the grill. I will explore their website although one of the links above seems to have some nice stuff, thanks

What you need is a Europa catalogue - they do all sorts of nice shiny things for AC Cobra replicas including a good selection of different types of mesh.

Tiny's looks good in my opinion. But I think his is the rare exception, it could easily look a mess.

Cheers David, more pics for ref the better. I think that if I can find some nice bright, quality mesh it will look quite retro. It already looks quite cool with the adhesive plate on the top face of the nose cone.

This in the company that we were using to develop all sorts of grilles, both large and fiddly-little, for various projects right up to the end of TVR at christmas.

He and his colleagues are very very helpful, don't cost a fortune and will be able to provide whatever spec grilles you reqiure;
-Square or Diamond pattern
-Steel, Stainless steel, Plasticoat, body colour etc. finish
-Laser cut flat or braized bar edging

They did the XK8 one shown above as well as the decent ones you see as a dealer fit on Pug 206's.

Speak to Carl, he's a lovely guy, will bend over backwards to help, and will not charge the earth.
We were shocked how cheaply they could supply bespoke grilles.
He can make up any grille from a simple card template, but if someone wants to provide a car to take the pattern off, that would probably be even better as he would then be able deal with fixtures too.

If anyone does decide to contact him, do mention that Dave Martin from TVR said "Hi"

Been thinking of doing the same for a while after seeing Tiny's car and the chimp grills.
With no/small number plates the look like something off of Toy Story sticking its tongue out at you, especially light colours.
I think a black diamond patten with chrome bezel would really enhance the look of the griff.
AL, let us know the costs and if they will do discount for multiple order. I may add to the order.

I have spoken to Carl and he is indeed pretty helpful.

I have sent him the pics up for him to see what he thinks. The only downside is that it might take them a few weeks to do it as it is a total one off.

He did however seem interested that other people had expressed an interest and I don't think it would be a problem once they have made one to supply others at a reasonable price.

They can either do s/steel or powder coated normal steel.
