Gas - The Bottled Kind!
Discussion
Right. This year is gonna be our first trip, there are 6 of us going and we've got ourselves a nice 3 ring gas camping burner. We've also got another 2 ring burner thats gonna be used to heat water for our "shower project". My question is, we're planning to run these off the same supply, do you reckon a 4.5kg Butane bottle will last. Bearing in mind we're going for 6 days total and I'd imagine we're gonna be using the equipment a fair bit!
My mate reckons it should easily do it, though i'm feeling slightly apprehensive about that! Would a 7kg bottle be a better bet?
Cheers guys!

my guess is that your already packing quite a bit of stuff so your not limited to what you can carry so take the larger bottle if the worst happens then your using the site showers which aren't that bad and eating from BBQs which is all part of the experiance "just remember beer, food, sleep, radio le mans" ,these will never be far away and are all you need
We run our fridge on bottled gas and we don't get through a 4.5kg bottle for the week but the difficulty is you don't know how much you are going to use.
If you're just putting together your set up now I'd be tempted to go with Camping Gaz rather than Calor, get yourself a couple of the smaller (can't remember the size) bottles so that you always have a full one and one of the go. You can then pick up refills in French supermarkets.
You can't get Calor in France so if you only take one Calor cylinder and some muppet empties it or you get a leak you will have to buy a new regulator and cylinder on the hop.
We run Camping gaz for European trips and Calor for the UK (Calor is cheaper and for UK trips the bigger Calor bottle is less of a problem).
We cook on petrol so there is always a ready supply
