Looking to replace my DMR Trailstar frame and forks for a lighter set-up. Basically like the style of the DMR but want to shed some weight (from me as well!).

I am looking at a Cannondale Chase 2 frame but interested if anyone has any thoughts on a "lighter" weight Aluminum trails, dual slalom, does everything type frame!

Similar thread on southerndownhill at the moment. Commencal Absolut 4X is one of the few that is both light, strong and has awesome geometry. I run a Meta 4X (4in travel 4X frame) and a mate has the Absolut. Both are amazing.

Imported by Madison (Shimano importers) so most shops can get them.

Thanks Rico. I'm after some thing that can do a little bit of everything. Ultimately I would like to run a front mech, and have the ability to put in a longer seat post for those leisurely trips out with the missus!

Hence looking at the following;

1. Cannondale Chase 2
2. Santa Cruz Cameleon
3. Norco Manik
4. Orange Cruch or Sub Zero

Would prefer a more relaxed head angle and as light as poss. Any thoughts?

Out of them I'd go for a Chameleon. Lovely frames

I've just bought a 14inch On-one Inbred frame, should be building it up this weekend. It's steel so will have a similal feel to the trialstar and is similarily lengthy but I'm guessing not quite as strong. I intend to use mine for BMX racing though so hopefully it will stand up to that ok!
Was only £149 from chainreaction. Horizontal dropouts though and no deraileur hanger or disc mount.

I'll put up some pics when I've got it built

I've always found selling parts separately on ebay more rewarding than a full bike.

If you want a price guide for a full bike (or parts), find similar full bikes on ebay, watch them and see what they go for.

Hi Lee. I've been after a bike for a while, but not found what I want yet... Always been into motorcycle trials, and what I really wanted was a cross between a trials cycle (so I can try and hop around a bit like the yoof who live round here) and a mtb that I can trundle round forests on with the wife puffing and panting behind! Does the Trailstar fit the bill?

For trials I would suggest that the trailstar is probably not the best. However, it is a great bike for blasting around on, the only thing that it's not great at is going up hill!!!!

I'm changing to a cannondale chase to get something a little lighter that will suit the riding that I do i.e. not som much full on jump / trails.

They are both in at Evans Cycles getting the components swapped, so if you are interested drop me a private message.

Cheers
