Just a curious question, as I heard a CS last week - what makes their engine note so much better than the standard 360? It cant *just* be the cats and the exhaust? I have to say I think i prefer it over the 430 note as well confused

I'm sure thats what it is!
Bypass valves are the only way to allow high specific output engines (with the sound of a CS) to breath further up the rev-range but stay within those bloody EU drive-by noise regs.... Spoil-sports.

With regards to the OP I think the CS sounds better than the 430....

CS is defo louder than the standard 360, I think it has a flap that opens circa 4500Rpm.

Out of pure curiosity, a standard spec 360CS what is the DB output and what trackdays can it go on?

I watched/listened to a clip of Capristo stage three last night on a CS. Did not sound nice (though I find that with all Capristo exhausts) just loud.

I had my car tested for a track day which i failed. I was recorded at 107Db at 3/4 rpm and i gave it a quick staionary blip and recorded 130Db before the marshall jumped back and grabbed his ears in pain.

Sadly yes. i have never tracked any of my cars so im not missing it.
The car is super noisey, in a good way. i had someone today ask me if i had opened the exhaust valves perminately. He hadnt heard my car at this point so i said no, would you like to hear it now anyway. he couldnt believe it. he said no need to wire them open, ferrari have done a good job already.

So that 130db is at full revs with a standard exhaust?

Standard exhaust but not quite full rpm. the guy had ringing in his ears for ages.
I should imagine a drive by reading would be very high too.evil

Do you drive with ear plugs? Any sign of a impending ASBO?

No ear plugs. every time i give it some welly i can garuntee there will be at least one police car in sight within 3 minutes. If i take someone out for a spin i usually have to go home straight after as the police are then looking for a noisey car. Bummer.

got an asbo on mine 2 weeks ago... female plod had the right hump... Male cop liked it and was gonna just let me off with a warning but she seemed to have her knickers in a twist and accused me of 'revving the car in a most anti-social way'!! hard not to laugh as we had people cheering in pleasure at the noise!!
