Any reason you want 4WD as a fun car?? In my experience they're not that fun on the road, as to get the most out of them you have to drive like a hooligan, which isn't a good idea when there's the potential of on coming traffic.
If you are purely after a weekend toy with occaisonal trackdays etc, then I'd say an Elise would be a good bet, just get a good one
Or how about an E30 BMW M3. Hell of a drivers car, with a fair amount of change from your budget.
But if I had £14k to spend on a silly weekend/fun car, it'd be an RX7 everytime. Get a good late spec one for around £9-£10k, and leave a few £kk spare to "personalise" it
