Cameras in Glossop
Discussion
I'm really curious about the camo - cameras in Glossop, the town you drive through before taking the Snake pass to sheffield. They're coloured dark green and blend in nicely with the bushes and lamp posts.
I once saw one flash about 20 cars going down a steep hill (30 limit) when I was at traffic lights on the other side of the road. After flashing each car, there's a 'Slow Down' display to rub it in further.
I'm a bit puzzled as there are no lines on the road to measure distance - can these still be used to prosicute, or are they really just a warning?

I think you mean the ones in Mottram, which is part of Tameside. I read something about them in the local rag. Apparently they are not home office approved, and are there to slow you down, but if the same registration is logged three times, the keeper will get a warning from the local plod. The ones in Glossop are different - Truvelos, and do have the lines on the road. Be more careful in Derbyshire.
Yup - they're the ones.
They are just before Glossop rather than the truvelos in the town - they're close to the start (or is that end?) of the M67.
I also found the road markings on the truvelos a bit strange - they seem to start behind the camera - so it takes a photo of the front of the car, but unless I missed something, there are no lines on the road for reference until after the piccie is taken?
