Photo help please!

Now, I am rubbish at taking photos. What I think is nice, invariably doesnt ever come out right on the actual photo.

I have 2 photos of my car and i quite like the angles etc, but its not quite right (still a bit dark etc). For future reference, what really 'works' as a photo of a car?!

Also, Is there anything that can be done to it post photo, or do I really need to just get a better camera and practice?

IMO for that sort of shot you'd need to park the car where there is little or nothing to reflect. The red fence in the first photo doesn't look too good when it's reflected, so maybe try the same shot in a wide open space.
