Any game recommendations? WHSmith are doing them at £399, think I may get one at the weekend.

Motorstorm, Resistance Fall of Man and F1:Champion Edition are all worthwhile. RR7 is OK, its fun but can quickly get quite frustrating.

Also a download of the free GT:HD demo is worthwhile.

Blazing Angels.

I took a bit of a gamble and orderd it not really knowing what it might be like. It's pretty good fun. One of the few games you can do two player (vs, and co-op) on the same machine.
Online mode is very good.

Motorstorm is great graphically. Call of Duty 3 is a good buy too.

And as someone said - make sure you download GT HD for free!

F1 is good for a proper race sim, just remember turn the driving aids off, you do need to work at it to get the hang of it if you haven't played F1 games before tho.

I've played the motorstorm demo and its pretty good if you want something less demanding and want to show off the power of the ps3.

I'm playing GT4 on the PS3 with a driving force pro - only let down is no force feed back during the game.

If you want to play GT4 on your PS3, you will have to download patch 1.7 from sony network.

Motorstorm is the only game I really like. Heard good things about F1, but haven't played it myself.

Think Resistance is pretty shit, TBH. Waste of 40 quid.

F1:CE is (in my opinion) an unsung gem in the launch line-up; graphically it looks great with some excellent trackside touches and good car models, the rain effect being particularly good. Sound is again very well done, and if you turn off all the driving aids, put damage on and set the AI to hard its a real challenge as well. Damage in particular makes you think before driving like a loon, particularly if you have spent the time running through the practice (with a very nice set-up aid included)sessions, qualifying and then the parade lap, the last think you want to do is drive like Sato. Mechanical failures do play a part and having someone's engine blow in front of you gives the double challenge of driving through dense smoke and keeping the car in a straight line on the oil.

It is possible to turn the aids all back on and drive it like an arcade game (personally I find that a bit dull), and set-up is a requirement as the default is zero front camber, which makes the cars a bit too understeery by default (an one of the main complains in a few reviews).

The UK store does have a demo (which gives a very small flavour of what the full game contains), so give it a go. One thing if you do want to view a replay you will need to pause the game, which gives access to the instant replay function. Its also possible to find plenty of 'clean' racers online, all for £35 in most places.

In regard to Resistance, what is it exactly that you don't like? As to be fair 'shit' is a bit of a vague description. I will admit to not being the worlds biggest FPS fan, but RFOM has a lot going for it. Yes the story is a bit cheesy and dull and the levels are a bit samey in places (lots of bombed out cities), but Insomniac did a great job (as normal) with the weapon design, the levels are all a good size and the total game a good size as well. It may just be me, but I can't resist some of the nice weapon options in RFOM, the 'tag' dart that then directs all further shots to the 'taged' subject, the Auger's fire through walls option and the hedgehog grenades (so much fun - throw one in a room and then walk in to see them all pinned to the walls). I will admit its not the 'best' FPS around, but personally I think 'shit' is a bit to harsh.

On top of that the PS3 store has a lot of good cheap stuff, GT:HD is good looking and free, Tekken is a nice port of the arcade game and great post-pub fun, Super Rub-a-dub keeps the kids quiet and Flow is wonderfully relaxing (even if game is a bit of a push in terms of a description).
