I've got some Meuliers (sp?) with a clay bar I dont need anymore if you live near Surrey Quays. PM me if you want it. But as said above, it does only cost £12 from Halfords.............

And it works really well to remove all the crap and imperfections in the paint surface of your car too!

Truth be known I recently lost mine which i got when i ordered a kit. I would like the same again but can't bring myself to pay the obligatory 4 squid p and p for an item that costs 8 squid. Tight i know.

What's a clay bar and how do you use it?

Ravi, I see you're a "strategy consultant". In my experience anything suffixed by the word "consultant" guarantees at least a #700 a day invoice....

Did a search and read a post on this and it involves three hours of polishing - three hours!

Type 'detailer' into PH search and put your feet up. May cost more than 8 quid (plus p&p) but a better use of your time.

Perhaps some of us find car polishing a light form of catharsis....I always thought the full Porsche experience came with the expectation of some serious polishing action...

I don't have the nouse (or the balls) to go freelance. We strategists are a much tougher sell as contractors than those IT boys.

if you say the words "i'm as tight as a badgers arse, and I wouldn't give my grandmother 50p to put in her gas meter" i'll pay for a clay bar to be sent to you

A bar of clay-like stuff, you wash your car so the paint is free of dirt, then use a detailing spray to lubricate the paint and use the bar to work over the car body.

It'll picks up/grinds off loads of tiny little bits of debris that get stuck on your cars paint that washing/polishing won't remove.

A little bit more in-depth if you fancy a read.

Apparently blu tack works just as well. Perhaps you could snaffle some from work or get the kids to steal some from school.
