As far as I'm aware glass replacement has it's own excess (about £50 on my policy) and shouldn't affect your NCB,but I guess it depends on your policy wording.

Nano- I'm with A Plan Insurance too and they confirmed, when I paid my readies, that all they would charge me for a screen replacement would be a £50 policy excess. They would cover the outstanding cost therefore. Call them to confirm.

As to sourcing one, there have been a few threads on here- do a search.

Spoke to a Autoglass guy when he was replacing the Audi windscreen and he said that he had only replaced one Chim screen at a cost of well over £500.00.

Better to go through your insurance for £50.00 and it doesn't effect your NCB.

PM this guy.

The problems you might face are that your insurer (not A-Plan) may have a nominated or 'approved' repairer who may not have the screen. Moreover, if they do, it's 50-50 whether the approved repairer can assign a competant guy to carry out a good replacement.

Good luck.

Depends on your policy but there is usually an excess, but it will probably be less than your normal excess, perhaps £50. Check your policy for the details that apply to you.

I've just had mine done.
I'm insured with direct line who recommend/insist that autoglass do it. At a cost of £60 for the excess. It took them 3 - 4 weeks to track down a genuine TVR windscreen (it's got a TVR logo on it !!) Initially they said they could do it in a couple of days. But then i got another call to say that, because it was a TVR (hand built cars, blah, blah blah) they would only fit a genuine TVR windscreen(so i wasn't too optimistic that they would even get one). also they would get there TVR expert to come down and do it(hand built cars, blah, blah blah).
the only problem was the rubber seal was supplied off of a reel rather than the proper shaped one. it's not perfect but it's ok. i guess the proper test will be to go for a spin when we get some rain(which i'm sure wont be a long wait).
