I use my car all year round, and was wondering how easy / hard / impossible it'd be to have the heated seats retrofitted?

Has anyone looked into this?

It would be pretty straightforward to retrofit heated seats. You can buy the elements from TVR car parts, and the wiring is very simple(2 relays and a switch or pair of switches). You could do it as per the factory original way,or it would be even more simple to run a seperate wiring loom and your own switch/es.The trickiest bit really, should be fitting the elements in the seats. If your not up to this kind of thing yourself, then any indie/dealer shouldn't charge a fortune for it.

If your regular passenger is anything like mine (SWMBO), go for 2 switches. When we're in the company Passat, I only have my seat heater on low for a few minutes to take the chill off it, whereas my wife will sit there indefinitely with it set on gas mark 5. I only realised after buying the Chim that it had heated seats; the previous owner didn't know! Now I've found the switch, it seems that they're either both on or both off, so I can forsee some disagreements ahead when the weather gets colder.

Where's the switch Paul? Mine was originally new with full leather and aircon. I didn't know heated seats were an option but the first owner may just have ticked all the extras boxes!

Early cars had a pull/push on the heater blower knob. All wiring is in place, with relay in the aux panel under the dash top, connectors for seats are under the console. Several times owners have queeried this due to the wires being pink (same as the cooling fans ), so pretty sure it is reasonably common for the loom to be in place.
