thinking of swapping my second car (the fiesta!!) and buying a new car that i can drive when the tvr is off the road or the weather too bad to bring my pride and joy out or make long distance journeys with a little more comfort even (i mean less rattles, wind noise, fear of fuse blowing etc).
Now this was my plan, drive the t350t when the sun comes out and i fancy being a hooligan for journeys no longer than 100 miles and the rest of the time drive either:
- porsche 997 gt3
- the new maserati coupe
- am vantage (i hear an s is on its way)
- the new audi r8 (although i'd want the v10 version)
- a second hand gallardo (can't really spend the other side of 100k)
As can be guessed i'm looking to spend 80-90k.
Like many of us I've progessed from driving hot hatchs as a teenager, lotus elises and exiges before moving onto the tvr. I like to be excited when i'm driving and have a great love for cars. I was going to walk into showrooms in September take a test drive or two and place my deposit and wait for what could be upto 2 years i suppose?
Just value the thoughts of fellow tvr drivers on what they think (or do) enjoy driving to compliment their tvr's or even upgrade from their tvr's

I hate to say it but if you are looking for something you can use every day it would have to be the porka or if you need more room then the Audi.
I would much rather have any of the other options you have listed in reality but i would fear that you would end up having two cars that you would only want to use when the weather is good and not for long journeys.

Mmm. I'm thinking pretty much the same too. I'm loath to get rid of the tvr as its such a unique machine so maybe the porsche, audi or even the maserati if i really need back seats (goes off to check the average age of maserati owners)
I'm aiming for similar in a year or so. By then will have a track-optimised T350 for the weekends.
AM Vantage with Prodrive upgrade remains top of my list as an everyday drive (deleting the dubious spoilers) until 599's depreciate a bit.
Rest are less involving, and no more capable for road driving unless at really risky speeds, and do not look GORGEOUS inside and out!
IMO of course.

Paul did you have any luck in talking your father into a Gallardo?

He thought he'd set a good example by getting a Corsa as a counterpoint to his gas-guzzling XKR!
It has been treated with appropriate respect
See you at Loton - there's a wind-tunnel booking that you may be interested in...

actually thats a point i could buy a used am v8 and prodrive it. would save on the waiting list and probably save some money too. Thanks
Second hand Audi RS4/RS6 + Second hand 996 GT3 (or Noble, or other TVR, or Morgan, or any other silly car).
Then you're starting to build a REAL stable of cars, have something needlessly quick with even more practicality than the Fiesta and something comparable in the fun stakes to the TVR if Tiv's on holiday at the garage and you need that "fix".

looking forward to it!! Wind tunnel sounds interesting..? A Corsa is inexcusable, if he wanted something to drive about without opening the wallet at every petrol station he should have bought a Smart.
MUCH more fun, especially when mapped, running a slightly different induction set up and properly thought out tyres all round (175's up front 195's at the back now.) Keep trying to bring him around to the idea of the Raging bull, may I suggest a Superleggera in black?
