Afternoon all,

Does anyone fancy joining me for a bit of first light riding in the Surrey Hills on Saturday mornings?

Only two rules apply...

Firstly, I really do mean first light, as I've agreed with the wife that she does all the early toddler care so long as I'm back home for her to do a 9:15 gym class. I was out on Leith Hill by about 6:45 this morning, and if my 18 month old son hadn't slept in until 6:05, it would've been earlier!

Secondly, if you're as fit as a whippet, you can still come along, but I'm not, so expect the emphasis to be more on "fun messing around on bikes" and less "30 miles before breakfast"!

Do you mean around the Look Out, Bracknell or the Surrey Hills around Dorking?

Although, thanks for the offer, early Sat am I'm either riding my loop around RH - Dorking or heading to Wales for the day.

I'm thinking around Dorking, although as I had wrist surgery on Wednesday, not for a few weeks yet!

Yeah, bit too much info there.

Our Sat morning route is Reigate Hill, Headley Heath, Box Hill (stop for a really bad cup of coffee), on to MILF Farm (I think they trade under the name Brockets Farm), then back to BH over the Gallops, HH then on to RH. With the ride up to RH as well it's about a 40 mile loop of fast(ish) off road riding. And at 7am is certainly relatively clear and cool this time of year. Certainly helps me appreciate Wales trips more.

We also go over to Bracknell every couple of Saturdays and put in 30 miles or so round the forest.

Although next w/e we're off to Coed for four days.

Sounds like a good ride. Virtually all off road I take it? I used to live around that way but wasnt into mtb then. Is the route avail on a map ie I know all the areas but I dont know the off road route !!?

The first and last 6.5 miles (between home and RH) are on road and there is two other sections of road (about 2 miles) so it's about 25 miles off road. There isn't a dedicated route map so to speak as the route has been cobbled together linking up different rides done with different people / groups. There are also different options along the rout to end up in the same places. Plenty of briddleways but not very technical - Leigh Hill is for that. It is tracable on an OS map but my IT skills don't stretch that far.
