Just costed one up what looks like the equivalent on the Holden website and using the ft.com currency converter it works out around £22K compared to £35K+ here! Anyone know how much the import costs are?

They are $69k oz. The SS Commodore is not the same thing, but is close (same body type, trans, etc) and arguably has a better engine. Its around $44k.
Shipping is around £1k, then add vat and duty. You should still save a few grand, but warranty issues etc might mean its not worth it.

I thought the VXR8 was the HSV GTS? rrp here is $75k plus dealer delivery plus stamp duty so all up would be over $80k. Converts to about 32800 pounds. Plus shipping, plus import duty plus any mods you have to do for the UK, then warranty issues?

Its the HSV Clubsport R8 we are getting with GTS seats and some other mods i think

Ah I see. Is that from an HSV option list or just between R8 & GTS prices?
Either way, prolly close enough, other thing I neglected was GST/VAT, you would get the 10% GST off if exporting (I think) but I assume you would then pay VAT which I think is a higher rate? (17% IIRC?) So $69k plus ORC = $75k less 10%GST =$67500 = approx £28k.
Add shipping 1k, import duty (don't know, ours is 10%) =£32k PLUS VAT @ 17% = £37k
Plus mods?, then warranty... just go to your friendly Vauxhall dealer!
