Help on a new GPS system please

My main needs are that it must be easily portable, cover Europe but most of all have a good battery life. The reason is I will be using it in old classic cars with positive earth so I can't plug it in the (anyway nonexistent) cigar lighter socket or else it would blow up. So there you have my three requirements. Now your advice.
