Seems a bit suss to me.

If it's an easy repair, why hasn't it been done?

Hell even I would have a go at repairing that.

It could be done pretty cheap but it would take a fair bit of time to do. For someone in the trade it'd be easy.

Only the paint would really make it costly, but still a bargain if the rest of the car is straight.

If it was such a easy job and potential profit machine I'm sure the trade would have done it up confused.
£6k5 + £0k5 for grp repair, say + £1k to paint (hoping) = £8k for a cat D 98 4.2 which is about right for retail.
However factor in the rest - overall interior and paint conditon? chassis? service history? clutch? engine? lots of unknowns. If its cat D then its current price is about £2k heavy if not more.
If its not cat D then its probably about right assuming all of the unknown boxes can be ticked as good.

It's worth a punt at that price. If it is too badly damaged you can recover your costs from breaking it

If I'm not mistaken the damage goes right across to the passenger side as well. Pretty much the whole rear end needing fixed is going to be more than £30 of halfords fibreglass kit. I'd be surprised at getting change from £1500 on that big a task done to a good standard.
