HELP!!! Diablo VT Drive Belts
Discussion
Hi guys
just been driving along, felt loss of power steering, temp gauge went all the way to HOT, and it started steaming. Pulled up, and saw that one drive belt was completely torn while the other was hanging off. Oil pressure warning light now comes on when you switch the car on. So whats the damage??? 1994 Diablo VT. Thanks

There shouldn't be any damage. There is only 1 drive belt not 2 though. I'm pretty sure Diablo's are the same as the Murcie in that respect. I've had 5 replacement drive belts on the Murcie - 2 have come off whilst driving over the last couple of years. It could be for a number of reasons, worn belt etc but its an hours job to sort out at a dealer/specialist.
Mine came off a week ago but the cause of that was a lot more serious.
If the belt comes off, before they fit a new one get them to check the pulley alignment. Not just with a ruler but with an alignment tool, a good engine shop should have one.
I wouldn't think anything bad, get the pulleys checked, new belts on and then see how it goes, it sounds like you stopped it quick so relax.
Dave!

Good point. I had two belts on and they werent aligned correctly so snapped a few hundred miles on. One of the pumps - think its air con, has one more slot than all the others, and if the belt covers the wrong one it'll snap within a couple of hours
