Has anyone had problems using Renovo soft top restorer. They have just started producing it in green so thought I would refresh my roof. After the first coat it dried streaky, I followed the instructions and did it out of direct sunlight and all in one go. I have since tried to do two more coats but every time it dries streaky. Any suggestions Cheers, Mike.
Mike,
Did you use the roof cleaner before you applied the restorer?
I bought the full monty when I did mine, cleaner, restorer and proofing liquid.
I did make a mess the first time as I didn't leave it long enough to dry after applying
the cleaner and this made it a bit streaky. I just started again with the cleaner and then restorer.
Maybe worth a call to Renovo for advice.
Good luck.

Clean & Blue once a year followed by fabsil, and no problems. Makes a bit of a mess & needs cleaning off screen & bodywork quickly. Maybe I really daub it on thick - but thats the only way I can get it to go on evenly. Also like spraying you need to make sure no bits have dried out where you join up if you see what I mean.

I have used it a couple of times, firstly the black on my ex-girlfriends Midget that had a duck down hood that was greying, the result was brilliant.
Secondly the blue treatment on the chim and the result was less than great to be honest. Done it twice, cleaned with Turtle Wax hood cleaner, two coats of renovo then two coats of Thompsons - Average result.

I spoke to someone at Renovo who advised the only times it will go streaky is if it is applied in sunlight or if there is any old sealer on the roof. He suggested using the cleaner to make sure all old sealers are removed and try again. The reason it seems to have gone streaky is that the renovo can't soak through the old sealer. Well that's next weekend covered, balls!! and I only put five coats on!!

I've just had to use it on my newly re-covered targa panel so it would match the fold down section and it went streaky and shiney, not impressed! Edited by V8 Devil on Monday 23 April 16:51
In the interest of balance on this topic - I have used Blue Renovo every 3 or 4 months regularly over the past 5 years (2 coats each time) and it has always dried streak free. I've never used a cleaner before application just a good medium grade bristle brush and vacuum cleaner. I apply Renovo quite liberally with a 2" brush and make sure I work fairly quickly along lines using a criss-cross pattern to ensure I keep the wet edge moving across the surface so never applying over an area that's already dried. It always produces a stand back and admire moment. Unless something's changed in a batch of product I can't understand how suddenly it's stopped working for those that are having a problem.
