Waloes trip - a positive story
Discussion
Just think it is always worth popping these positive stories on the forum now and then, just in case anyone is lingering and thinking about purchasing one but perhaps put off by some of the problems.
Well, i have just done nearly 500 miles in mine this weekend, which included every kind of driving, including a 1.5 hour tailback on the M4 - and i am pleased to report she didn't miss a beat once. Had a few grounding out moments on some of those Welsh roads and speedbumps into carparks though, but luckily exhaust and all is still firmly attached to car.

Great stuff always good to have a nice long blast
Just think it's shame that people have come to think of 500 miles trouble free as a miracle
not knocking the story just honestly do think it's a shame that some maybe thinking 2 or 3 times before taking their Cerb out for more than a few hundred miles in case it breaks..........i'd have never bought mine or i'd be looking to bin the thing if it couldn't take me that far without leaving my stranded....
........waits to be flamed........

FWIW, the sprint/hillclimb season has started and our Cerb has been up to Croft/Three Sisters/Harewood/Curborough in the past few weeks, including a trackday at croft. Thats approx 1500miles (im just guessing, may be more) worth of decent driving, motorway work, daily commute and hard work on track that its just shrugged off. It's done personal bests recently in all events except Harewood, where it was pretty close to PB in dads hands.
Today I have been told it was placing ahead of some nicely prepared westy/other seventype cars on a very tight sprint track in its class, shame the regs dont allow it to just compete with similar cars of its nature (road biased pretty much standard stuff) - dont underestimate these cars!!
Love it? too fecking right we do...

Come on Guys, give Gbird a break, most news on this forum is doom and gloom because its not really in human nature to go out of our way to publicise the fact that "Hey nothing bad happened today". So 100 of us just havent been arsed to write in and say that nothing bad happened over the weekend, So good on you Gbird !!
As for Welsh roads. My parents used to live near Rhayader int he middle of Wales. Great roads around there are the A470 from Builth Wells to Newtown - very pretty but watch out for the speed cameras aroudn Llanidloes.
If you're in the area it's well worth driving the loop around the Elan Valley dams. Absolutely beautiful and worth stopping at the visitors centre for a cuppa and cake. Great driving roads also but very slow in places and you have to watch for oncoming traffic as the roads can get narrow.

So let me get this right. You are of the opinion that it's "positive" to post details on arguably the most popular TVR site in the world, of your achievement in covering 500 trouble free miles over the weekend in the Cerb.
May I be first to congratulate you firstly on your judgement with respect to your frank and reasoned post, secondly on the impressive and legendary reliability of your car and finally for the insight into your extraordinary endurance driving skills. I am sure Derek Bell is sh1tting himself with regard to his place in the history books due to your potential prowess.

Sir, can you read? Or more to the point, do you understand what you read? Or do you simply choose to interpret everything to suit your own personal mood, which i deduce must be somewhere between despair and rock bottom? Nowhere do i refer to the impressive and legendary reliability of my car (although now you raise the point, i have had my Cerbera for 4 years and yes, it is as reliable as just about any other car i have owned) nor do i even allude to any foolish notion of being a driving god who will soon be hot on the heels of Derek Bell (maybe Damon Hill yes, but come on, not Bell
) All the post wanted to be was a nice (perhaps boring to some) story of a lovely driving weekend in Wales in my beloved Cerbera, with good weather to boot. End of. Accept it for what it is and shut up. I suggest you either get a life, stop posting/editing late on a Sunday when perhaps you have had a few too many drinks drinks and/or are feeling a tad despondent about something in your life, or just simplly chill out a little. All you have achieved is to turn a potentially positive, gentle thread where people could contribute nice Cerbie experiences, into something completely different, and for that i must congratulate you
It would seem that gone are the days when a Cerb owner can post something like this on here. Perhaps i should re-read the rules, as maybe positive postings are banned on this forum? Calm down Greg, I think the poster forgot he was on PH and not his usual forum, www.miserablegit.com , when he made that post

I too have just completed a second consecutive 1000 mile plus weekend of driving in the Cerb. The Cerburgring jaunt and then 4 days in Wales with the TVRCC. The car behaved itself impeccably on both (apart from a worsening diff pinion bearing and rather tired rear shocks
which can't really be apportioned directly to either)

Hey we both made it back the UK under our own power....ish. Fubes rolled his off the boat at Dover and mine just "sagged" in a big way about 4 days later

And mine would have made it the final few miles to home (or Austec, that being my car's spiritual home) if the pillocks on the ferry hadnt cocked up the jump start and 'spiked' the piggin' immobilisor
