Ok chaps I have one of those head vs heart dilemmas....
Head Says 911 (practical every day car et all) VS Noble (oodles of fun and more my personality)
To try to balance things out I wonder if you chaps can answer a couple of questions. I've upped my budget to circa £25k so that should put me in reach of a good 02 2.5 or possibly an 03 3.0.
1. How reliable is the Noble in general, it wont be my only car but I'd proabably like to commute 5 or so miles each way most days in the summer with a few weekend trips thrown in.
2. Whats it going to cost roughtly per annum on maint? I'm reckoning on circa £1k per service, is this about right ?
3. Whats the real likelyhood of the diff going bang on a 2.5 thats not had the diff mod ? It wont be for track use so hopefully that will help.
4. Which is the more reliable, the 2.5 or 3.0 ?
5. Is there anyone near Aberdeen that will give me a poke around theirs first so I know what I'm looking at ? I used to park next to one most mornings so I know someone up here has one!
Would appreciate any views you can chaps offer.

Hi mate,
Obviously I will say Noble, as it is jusr so much fun. However, the Porker is a good car.
I bought my GTO-3 a year ago and have had no problems (Apart from a failed lambda). Although I must add that I haven't tracked it, but it does get a regular work out.
Practicality wise, it doesn't have much space to put luggage, but who cares. Mine isn't a daily runner so it's never been a problem.
I still have the original open diff and hope that it behaves, especially as it so much fun.
Anyway, good luck with your next purchase what ever it is. But you know you want the Noble!!!

I must admit the Noble is my preference however its subject to finding a good one, hopefully I should find something within budget. I'm not fussed about track use either and luggage isn't really a problem other than an occasional weekend jaunt away in it. I'd like to use it to commute to work most days in the summer to get some use out of it (5 miles each way) but I have a second more sensible car also for longer runs and when the weather is bad.
My only concern is that I don't have a garage for it, just a drive, so it wont be covered. Is a car cover a good idea in this situation as I see some tailored ones on ebay?

Hi mate mine is currently for sale black m12 2.5.It has been a great car drives amasingly real smooth no problems.In my time with the car i managed to crack the manifold that is the only thing that has happend.Anyway good luck with the hunt come see mine if you feel like a nice drive home lol 
Ecos, I did notice a couple of black ones however I'm really not a fan of that colour otherwise I'd have been on by now !!! Blue or silver it has to be I'm afraid !
Looking at lockups for rent actually also so that may cure the storage problem, not cheap in Aberdeen I'd have thought....have a feeling one of my other toys may have to go !!

Being an ardent Porsche fan id still say go for the Noble,for 25k you will get a lot more car/performance,there are not many 911s worth having in that price bracket,to start approaching Noble performance in a 911 i reckon you need a good 40k plus budget

From what I can tell from this Forum I think its Rishi's old one that he's traded in.
Its an 02 with 30k miles, has full Noble history, all mods done including ECU, radiatior, intercooler etc...
Comes with 3 months warranty which covers engine and gearbox and full luggage kit.
Whats the chance of the engine having to be rebuilt or needing work ? Are the pretty solid on standard power ?
