Got a 4.5 Chimera, and want to get the engine out as it needs abit of work, not done this before so can this be done leaving gearbox in car. Will be doing this using axle stands if required have no ramp.

Removed so far -
Rad
cross member
exhaust
manifolds
starter motor
loom disconnected
bottom pulley
plenum + base + hose + AFM

Only other thing that may catch is the oil filter.

Also lifting points, there is one hoop at the front where's the rear one.

On mine there wasn't a rear one. I used some webbing straps around the engine and inlet manifold.

Lifting points, there's meant to be one at the front, between the PAS pump (if you have PAS) on the nearside front of the engine and diagonally opposite at the rear off side, sounds like you only have the one which will make things interesting. If you're keeping the gearbox in (TBH I usually do) you need to remove the bellhousing crud stop plate which is held on by a number of small bolts with 8mm heads and the clutch slave. There is enough room to keep the pulley on the engine move it forward and out, I usually also unbolt the rubber engine mounts from both the chassis and the engine. You can reach the 8 bellhousing bolts from the top of the engine but it is a tight squeeze if you've large hands.

Make certain you can get you engine hoist in to the engine bay far enough, cos many hoists don't have a long enough reach.

BTW when you put the engine back in, the manifolds and starter can go on the engine before you put the engine in.

Iain

You don't need to remove radiator! What you may have difficulty with is finding an engine hoist with a deep enough throat to allow you to reach the middle of the engine as it's a long way back! Also it's worth taking off oil pressure sensor so it doesn't catch anywhere

It helps to get the back end of the car as high as poss and the front low, otherwise your hoist will probably bend the honeycomb finisher thingy. Starter motor is a nice solid attachment point for webbing.
