I have only done 300 miles on my bike so far but these things worry me... Is is OK, as far as handling is concerned, to cut corners and cross a middle line with cats eyes, or is it a big no-no as it will upset the bike?

I wouldn't want to go over them when at the limit but as I never am I just ride over them. Remember to stay relaxed and you'll be fine. Be a bit more circumspect in the rain though.

Be very careful indeed, especially in the wet. A little bit of diesel, or a little bit of debris in the road can be the difference between staying on or falling off.

My best tip is to stay relaxed, and don't let tiredness or fear make you tense up on the bars.

Most slides the bike will sort out for itself , providing that you do not have a death grip on the bars

Even after years of biking, I still catch myself hanging on too tight!
