Ferrari birthday blaze

599 burns in Holland

Ferrari’s carefully orchestrated 60th anniversary celebrations don’t contain anything about bonfires, but this 599 has obliged. The Dutch registered car had taken part in the Relay event in Holland, but burned out after the owner reported a ‘strong smell of petrol’…

The sense of occasion more than makes up for the sporadic risk of immolation.

I bet insurance companies love these kinds of claims. Still....it's what you pay your premiums for and at least he'll get a new Fezza out of it thumbup

I hope they 'fired' the driver. I mean, it was a 'flaming' nuisance! I expect he got all 'fired up' because of the smell.

Bad news, but not as bad as loosing your house to fire....

I have just moved back in after a £235,000 claim.

It's only a car, although a very very nice one.

I must say the insurance co's are rubbish though, always looking for reasons not to pay. I also lost a MK1 Golf GTI in the blaze (tucked up in the garage). The classic policy insurers offered £900 for a 73,000 mile standard unabused car in brilliant condition. Worth £4-5k any day of the week.

Why?

Cant see how that is funny in the slightest in my opinion. I dont take pleasure in seeing a gorgeous car ruined, nor do I take pleasure in others misfortune

Personally i would argue the toss the with Classic car insurers until they come up with a satisfactory figure. If you still get no joy then go to the financial services ombudsman and he'll look at the claim and circumstances. All insurance companies take the piss unless you get a mutually agreed assured worth/valution in writing from the insurers at the beginning of the policy, and that way you will recoup somewhere near the cars true worth. Otherwise they will rip you off.

Sorry to hear about your house fire. Very draining emotionally and financially I would think; thankfully I haven't had one yet..
At least the Ferrari owner had somewhere to go home to.

What about all the poor insects slaughtered by the fire on the grass, now thats a loss of life, the rest is only a suitably aranged pile of man made materials
