On other forums ive seen a simple vote option. ie I could post a topic:

Which one of these hairdresser cars should I buy:

MGF
MR2

We all know the answer is MX5 but instead of people replying MX5, MX5 etc... you can simply click one or the other and we get a little graph telling us we should all buy an MX5...

How about tread rating tools? Or even post-rating?

That way you can set a threshold and only see stuff that others have deemed interesting. Posts that are way off-toipc could be filtered out too.

We did experiment with that for a while. I might well reintroduce it with a bit more polish applied.

The model used over on Slashdot.org works very well. Easy to access UI would be the key though
