I’m not an expert and need some friendly advice on oil pressure, as its first time I’ve had one in the car and not sure what the right readings should be on the dash gauge…. And whether to use this as a tell tale for potential issues….

When I start the engine cold it reads 5.0, but when it gets warmed up some it can vary between 2 and 5 depending on revs. I presume that is normal ?

But the manual says when the car is warmed up and revs are at 5000 RPM it should read 3.5….. mine reads 5.0…
I’m stationary in neutral when I do this…. Checked the oil levels and all ok, and no warning lights either… and when am going at high speed its pretty much always at 5.0.

If anyone can tell me that this is normal that would be greatly appreciated, as now I’ve noticed it, it’ll play on my mind….

Thanks in advance

I think this is normal, my 997(GT3) is on 5 at anything over 2-3000 rpm.
If it was below what the manual says I'd start to worry, normally high is a good sign.
If you are worried just double check it has the correct oil, the thicker the oil the higher the oil pressure - I think that's right.

JK - Mine is the same. Pretty much on 5 whenever I'm over 3000 revs.
I havent noticed when I start up but I'll check tomorrow and post back.

Make sure the car is properly warmed up before checking it .. It won't show 3.5 at 5000 until at least 20-30 mins of driving, at this stage the idle pressure can be below 2 bar.
Porsche's lower limit is 1 bar at idle on the 996 engines , can't be much different for your beastie.
