So it's a distributor with the coil built in so if the coil packs up you have to replace the whole thing? Great idea, not.

Pigeon,

GM have been using their HEI (coil in the cap) ignition for many years - without problems.

...and that includes their sportscar the corvette.

toyota, mitsubishi, honda, nissan, mazda and general motors have been doing it for years - very reliable but when they do go wrong very expensive - back to the thread was there a distributor for sale, must have missed that, I'll go back and have another look

Yanks have been doing this for years,i think you will find they dont give much aggro,since the early eighties if memory serves.
