Help chaps, the driver seat is sinking to the right, ok I might have had some pies ok but it doesnt look right. Had a look underneath and the bolts holding the seat down are not straight. Is this a common problem and what do I do to rectify it other than go to weighwatchers ?

Many Thanks for the replies.

Sorry Nigel, we're not being very helpfull.
I would remove the seat and see if the floor looks OK, can't see how it wouldn't be unless theres a crack or something. Also you can then put the seat on a flat surface to establish if its the seat at fault.
Seat is easy to remoce, 4 nuts under car 13mm if I recall, easiest with a ratchet and a socket. I accessed mine without raising the car and I'm not especially silth like!

The bolts retaining the seats are often bent, due to grounding on speed humps and kerbs etc. I'm not too sure how easy it is to remove these if they are.

It sounds as though the bolts are not tight enough and are allowing the seat to tip over. Have a look under the car, find where the seat bolts come through, and see whether there is evidence of cracking or other damage to the floor. Perhaps someone has removed the original bolts/brackets and replaced to gain leg-room/head-room or something.

The seats are only bolted through the fibreglass floor. I had the Tower View Racing seat reinforcements fitted, which improved things no end.

The seats are often stacked/offset on a small section of box section and these rust away and the seat colapses (these are about 2 inches long 45 degree cut with a bolt upwards and the at the oppiste end downwards) easy to make, but if not then mail me direct.

Blinkin Heck... I would only expect to see that if the car had been rescued from a leaky barn in a centuries time!
Would have thought the owner would get fed up of smelly carpets if that much water was down there in use. I do condone keeping the metal and runners above the carpet, plastic being my preferred material - difficult if you are pressed for headroom tho.
