i have just bought a t350c, the car is new and only done 24 miles when i got it. i have been running the car in over the weekend as specified. i have now done 360 miles. the car has been fine over the weekend no issues at all.

But tonight i went out warmed it up correctly and driving it to no more than 4,000 rpm on part throttle, but everytime i get to aprox 3,600/3,700 rpm its says this>

error code '3' and beeps and the display changes for a few seconds with is message and shows the oil pressure in the middle.

can anyone please help me as i am now worried about driving the car

many thanks

Probably no more than a dodgy oil pressure sensor, change your pod so you can have oil pressure as the main display, and take the car for a run and check the pressure just before the relevant rpm.
You could always check the wire on the sender to make sure it`s on properly, it is on the off side front inner wing just in front of the air box brass nut looking thing with a black box on it

Hello Tom and welcome.

We need more info:

1) What was the oil pressure?

2) Have you checked the oil recently?

That said, the older type oil pressure sensor is well know to become faulty and the newer version is much better. The dash ECU required the pressure to be above a certain amount higher up the revs other wise the warning code ( I had this also ).

Let is know the above.

The instrument pod on the modern TVR'S are for want of a better word a joke. Dont worry about it but get it checked as you never know it could be a problem because until you know your car you will have to err on the side of caution.

In 12k mine has told me:

I am doing 250mph
doing zero at 70mph
told me its running that hot that it should be a steam engine
I have no oil pressure
EFI on the blink
and sometimes it gives up the ghost completely

In the end over rode the oil pressure and water temp with mechanical gauges and installed an over ride fan switch to cut in when I want as the ecu turns them on far to late.

Your ears will become your engine management system in time.

Enjoy the experience..

Should be well above 22psi at that engine speed (mine is around 50-60psi from memory) so the dash ecu is doing what it should.

Unfortunately it is difficult to know if you really do have low oil pressure, or if it is a faulty sender....

Like somebody else said, check wiring first, if it's OK, then I think err on the side of caution and take it to a dealer to get the sender checked

HTH

Cheers

if sensor is ok 6psi would be low whats it ticking over at? - book states presure should not fall below 35psi @ 2000 rpm, but if yo ahve a faulty sensor then that may not help you - the new sensor has 2 wires the original had only one, if that helps.

edited to remove my silly reply about coil breakdown - I missread your original post.

first check your oil level, if thats fine, then look for leaks and make sure no oil in water, if thats fine then replace the oil pressure sendor and that'll be that.

i have unpluged the switch and re connected it. on tickover she is now at 8psi from start up, if i hold the revs at 2,000 she is showing 25 psi. is that any better. checked the oil and water all looks fine. i will give the garage a call in the morning...

No mate that will be the air flow temp unit, look at the expansion tank and on the inner wing between the tank and the foward part of the box you will see the sensor quite big, don`t forget this is TVR we are talking about so it might be in a different postion from car to car hehe

i wouldn't worry if you've checked the oil, mine is exactly the same its the sensor that's stuffed. If it bothers you take it back and get it sorted, as for me i tend to wait for a few niggles to develop before i visit the dealer else i'd be there every month!

Tom,
Welcome to the wonderful world of TVR ownership!

You bought the 1-year-old-but-never-driven black T350C still with the plastic on the seats etc. from a PH-er.
Congratulations - it looks a beauty and was a steal at that price!

Wish I had seen it before I bought mine....would have stretched every bank note to have got that one - good luck with it!
