I've just got off the phone from Carl Baker who was recommended off here.

I need to get a new immobiliser and fobs for the car and, following the chat I've just had with him, I reckon this man really knows his stuff.

There was no bullshit, no fancy sales talk, just a straight forward, down-to-earth explainaition of what needs to be done and how we can best do it from about 800 miles away.

It's just a pity that everyone we deal with can't be that helpful.

And I will 100% back that up by saying that although I could not get my act together, Carl was very helpful and went more than out of his way to arrange for 2 new alarm fobs to be reprogrammed for me here in Tokyo...it was too long a story to tell now, but he really was a top chap. I just never got around to using his services because I am a professioinal procrastinator. (and if I ever lose my one and only alarm fob, I will stab myself to death).

And Id just like to chip in too. Whilst broken down at Dover docks last week with a possible immobilisor problem, I called Carl (whom Ive never spoken to before) on his mobile, for him to answer in the evening whilst out of the country/on holiday, and he talked the AA man through electical checks. Couldnt get it going but what a top bloke for trying to help whilst on holiday thumbup

I had a problem with my Alarm last weekend, I rang Carl, and like Ireland said, no Bullshit, no Sales talk, he just helped me sort out the alarm to enable me to drive home. He makes you want to book your car in with him so he can earn some money. Mines booked in for Monday to get the alarm sorted properly - Top man thumbup

My stuff will be going with a courier to him very soon to get it 100% sorted.

I've ran the car for a decent while now to confirm my starting issues were down to the immobiliser so it's time to get the new one in the car and get a couple of spare fobs too.

I just wanted to add to this very old thread,

I have just got off the phone to carl over some issue with my alarm, and as everyone says, no bull poop, no sales speach or holding back of info so he can make money out of you, just pure knowledge, tips and advice.

An absolute gentleman who knows the insides out of spaghetti junction, and if I can't fix the issues then I will make the trip to his place of work for him to work on the car.

Not many people left on the plannet like this gent. THANKS CARL

I only have one fob, can i just buy a new one from somewhere or is it (as i suspect) more complicated than that. Has anybody done this and what prices am i looking at?

Cheers.

I've spoken with him a few times - helped me out of some sticky situations (alarm going off at an NEC exhibition) - the first time I ever spoke with him I'd left a message on his voicemail and he called back in minutes whilst on his HoneyMoon!!!

He subsequently got my alarm business - not a problem since.

Top guy.

I was in your shoes a few months ago. If you have the red card with alarm details on it then that is all you need to get a new fob. If you don't (like me) then you will need to remove the alarm control box from your car (1 min job) and post it to Carl. You get it back with a red card, two fobs, make sure you get rubber buttons, and you plug it back in. Job done.

Cheers softtop, cant recall seeing a red card so will have to send it away. I take it you cant drive the car without the control box? how long does it take and how much if you dont mind me asking.

Cheers, Mark.

You can drive it without the box ..... but you can't lock it.

I sent mine to him and had it back within a week ..... and that was to and from Ireland.

Mine was upgraded to the newest version internals.

I can't remember the cost.
