Greetings and advice needed!
Discussion
Hi!
Im in the process of migrating from the Audi forum to the Porsche forum...due to the imminent purchase of either a GT2 or a 996 Turbo. Currently the turbo is first choice, but would like to hear anyone's first hand experience of owning these cars? Its for track (Ring) use as well as road use, although I do have another road car for shopping trips etc...
Any advice would be very gratefully received!
Many thanks

As with most decisions, it's about compromises. Would you be happier with the turbo on the track, or the GT2 on the road? I would be much happier with the GT2 on the road, so that's the compromise I'd deem acceptable.
happier with the GT2 on the track and happier with the Turbo on the road as its AWD for those tricky roundabout in the wet situations....
Never driven either, nor a GT3 yet but would say from what you have posted that what you want is a Turbo for now, then a GT2 in a year or so's time when the Turbo is starting to feel a little bit too easy.
One of my first thoughts though is if you think the GT3 might be a little hardcore (i take it you know that they are available in wossie trim as well as Nervous hairy chested bars and buckets version) why look at the GT2?

GT3 is designed as a track car more than the GT2? I found the Turbo nice to drive now not at all challenging like the GT2 might be in certain situations...The GT2 looks awesome...and is a fab Ring car!!
I know what you are saying in waiting but sometimes Im a little impatient...road angel a said:

Yes - I took that for granted - which is why I asked the question the other way around.
I would be happy with the GT2 on the road for 350 days a year, but would feel I'd made the wrong choice if I had the Turbo on the track for the other 15 days.
road angel a,
You made the right decision in getting the GT2, it's really stunning both to look at and to drive. Even Mrs 'byte says how beautiful it is, and she normally turn her nose up at Porkers (including CW's Boxster S).
No doubt someone on here will know a good place around Thames Valley/Oxfordshire area to tweak the suspension for you so that it's "just right".
Remember, keep your foot in there!
