Accellerated too fast out of a roundabout !
Discussion
Recently pulled over by the BiB near St Ives for accelerating too fast out of a roundabout onto an A road, with 60mph speed limit. Whilst I didn't exceed the speed limit, apparently I had caused an offence for the speed of my acceleration!
When I pointed out that had not accelerated as quickly as the diesel mondeo in front of me, was then accused of racing!
Maybe, that it was 11.00pm on a friday evening, I was driving a yellow porsche, was sufficient for the plod to pull the driver and justify a breatherlyser.
And the epilogue !!! Advised that I should accelerate quickly from the hard shoulder, as it was a quick section of road. Respect the BiB

Not so sure about excessive acceleration laws just sounds like an excuse to give you a pull to see who you are. No harm done

I don't understand... why would driving a yellow porsche "qualify" you for being pulled over! (Edited to add sarcasm
) Surely that is profiling!!!flow99 said:

I'm pleased to see they haven't lost their sense of irony When I pointed out that had not accelerated as quickly as the diesel mondeo in front of me, was then accused of racing!

It was a notable difference to the other car in front of him, and was sufficient for his 'profiling skills' to be tested. Probably being a 'yocal local bobby' he believed all yellow porka drivers are crooks and criminals, or is that me 'profiling' him?
I have driven a number of cars in the last ten years and from memory have been pulled over 6 times.
Out of those ten years, I drove a black e36 M3 for two years. 5 of the six times I have even been pulled over was in this car, and was breathalysed 3 times out of those. By the way, I never even have a half pint before driving...
All things equal, the pulls statistically should be pretty spread over my driving career. I dont think it is a co-incidence that I had 5 pulls in 2 years with one car and 1 in 8 years with all the rest!
So yes, 'profiling' is certainly a factor - but is this a problem? Humans by their nature have prejudices based upon past experiences. That is a genetic fact based upon if we didnt learn from past situations we wouldnt last long in the big wide world. We cant get away from that. Similarly, I am sure an effective policeman is one who actually does think about what they are doing!
I had no problem being pulled over on all but one of the times as I wasnt 'accused' of anything major and seemed to be a spot check for drink driving - fair enough. The other time I ended up seeing the officers again in court where I had the correct forum to vent my views and won, but thats another story...
So being in a similar situation, I dont have a problem. Not only in that I dont drive that M3 any more!
If you think your situation is bad, I remember reading a thread and posts from a guy who I think was called Nightmare.
He had been pulled over an astonishing 50 times - yes, 50! The reasons were really rather random including "Err, I heard that one of these was stolen from around here recently..."
That wouldnt be so unbelieveable if it wasnt a Lambo Diablo in Purple.
As there are only a select handful in the country, the chances of one of them being reported stolen in your vicinity, not much I think

That would have been of more concern to me......
must be a boxter
Would still be better than all of your cars on your profile.
Was a boxster, a 987 boxtser S, and it's a great car, glad you agree staceyb......and it can accelerate faster than a diesal mondeo, but not advisable with ps plod sat on your tail.

I was mainly commenting on the fact that I cannot abide that people comment/criticise other peoples car when they have no apparent cars on their profiles. Nothing is advisable when plod is sitting on your tail.
