She seems o.k.
Loud with the cats in, god only knows what it would be like without. They was both sat outside work yesterday, so caused quite a stir. One of the neighbours at home has kindly let me use their drive now though.
Comparisons.... The 4.2 is a lot more "free revving" in a motorbike stylee. The 4.5 needs a bit of effort, however is seems to be geared longer, unless the speedo is over reading that is. The 4.2 does 30 at 2k revs in third, where the 4.5 seems to be around 35, I'll pop the tom tom in & see if that's correct. The 4.2's speedo is bang on.
The Tuscan seats look great, but they don't "hold" you aswell as the old one's. Coming to work & back isn't a problem, but I reckon A tight right turn on a track day, could see you driving it from the passenger seat.
Little things make a difference. The fact that it's a newer car means the windows go up & down quicker
, and you've also got "hot only" & "cold only" vents, which is an improvement. The old car has the little holes at the front for the windscreen, and a lot of your cold air con air gets wasted by going there. The later car gives you a good blast in the face.
I like the warning buzzer on the indicators, which the original owner of the 4.2 had removed.
The door seals are completely different, plus the bit that comes up the side of the windscreen sort of "wraps over" the car. I'm presuming that's to cut down on window noise or to stop the rain falling on your lap, when you take a right turn or brake
The old one's in tomorrow for some cosmetics prior to sale, but when it comes back, I'd like to photograph them side by side. My Dad insists on putting his Interceptor in the photo aswell. I'm also going to get them both on the weighbridge 4.5LW v old 4.2, I'm convinced the 4.2 is lighter. Especially the doors & bonnet.
The 4.5 got it's first kill on Sunday. A tailgating Boxter S, looked like he was going to go home & burn his car afterwards
. I should have stayed in third & give him a chance
The 4.5's due a 12k service next month, joy of joy. The right indicator doesn't cancel & Laurence mentioned the air intake hoses & oil cooler hoses could do with replacing. That sounds cheap
On the 16" v 18" debate, the turning circle doesn't seem any worse.
The ride feels nice, I'm not sure what shocks it's on. The old one has new ohlins on, but doesn't feel as good as the new one. Strange.
That's about it really. When's the next Germany trip ? Drive, Glug glug, drive, drive, drive, glug glug, drive
