OK, my mate is down buying said car today and not that I'm a competitive type I would still like my car to be faster than his, so what if anything needs to be done. Mine is down at Austec getting its engine rebuilt so its the ideal time. How much power will I need? Anyone have any track day experience playing with one?

I'm thinking R888's might give me an advantage as long as I don't let him close enough to see them.

No doubt he'll be along some time soon to slag off the Cerb and say how great his new motor is.

Depends what you mean by faster? Straight line or round a track? Can't imagine a well driven Noble ever struggling against a cerbera round a track. Wouldn't mind being proved wrong though

A 4.5 cerb is quicker in a straight line. Well a looked after one is. Round a track you may struggle.

I will hopefully be competing against a race preped GT3 Noble on september the 9th at brands!!

So we shall see (It should be a fair bit quicker than my cerb so im toldrage)

In anyway really, I think the quarter mile should be close but as you say round a track I think he would walk away. However if the Boss is driving II Zero it may be a different matter.

On track get yourself suited and helmeted and then get Boss dressed up in the same garb for a last minute switcheroo - that should help redress the balance, also if tracking with him pick a power circuit not a twisty one. Straight line 1/4 mile stuff you should have the edge I would have thought, but if you want to make sure then you could throw a discreet Nitrous install in for a quick fix

I like your thinking, Nitrous, hmmmm!

As for a 4.5 being quicker in a straight line, I have seen an 11.8 quarter being bandied about for a 3R and the quickest (minus Craigs) 4.5 I've heard of is an 11.9. Although having said that over 130, they are meant to have brick like aerodynamics due to that mahoosive rear wing so its likely to slow down a fair bit over that.

Yeah you are probably right, in real terms it will likely come down to who manages the best launch over a qtr mile - best make it a standing mile then and hope the wing hurts him

I've not heard such claims... I've heard of an M400 running a 11.1 or something similarly stupid, but myself and others questioned this with no real proof of anything.

I've been in a couple of Nobles now, in a straight line an M12 wont be a problem, over 100 it'll be easy... an M400 would keep a Cerb honest a little longer, but again, once over a certain speed it would start to fall back. That said, there are a fair few near 500bhp Nobles out there that a Cerb probably wouldnt live with until absolutely huge speeds, where the nobles gearing runs out.

On a track - the Noble has the advantage. Simple as that - its one of the best handling cars I've ever had the pleasure of riding in. However, a healthy Cerb 4.5 on R888's would be mighty - just more challenging. I suggest you get your car sorted for about 420bhp (real), get R888's and get a ridiculous amount of tuition to go with it. hehe

The Boss doesnt even run sticky tyres yet... there is proof enough of what a Cerb is capable of if the driver can learn to get the best from it. Adding sticky R888's in my experience (from sprints/hillclimbs) can give a fair few seconds PER LAP advantage alone!!

Get some tuition thumbup

Funny you say a real 420hp, my concept of what a 4.5 can actually acheive has altered somewhat after recent conversations, although I'd rather not get this off topic on that subject again.

I thought the 11.8 was strange as the power to weight ratio is down on a Cerbera 4.5.

Its just a shame there is only one track remotely close to us up here, but I need to make the effort and get down there and get some track days and tuition sorted.

Emm, he's had 170 out of it already on the way back home (called in on a private racetrack on the way home obviously)I think I might need the nitrous.

I'm sure the Cerb will do that comfortably as is but never had the balls to try.

Just dropped you a mail to say that is who I thought it must be so now confirmed. I don't have a direct email or mobile number anyway so speak to Alistair (or just fire him a mail through his profile). Who will SleepyDave get to drive it for him on the next one though, surely he is not going to miss out on his cross continent kip?

well Dave will have to leave a few days before anyone else and have 10 sleeps on the way, how anyone can fall asleep at over 170mph with the windows down is unbelivable, he was awake at 160 and snoring at 170 then woke up at 188 , there was about a 3 second gap between all of this but it did make me laugh
