Any of you lot fancy a XC ride up at Dalby?

If you've never been, its N. yorkshire, between York and Whitby.
Excellent mountainbike facilities, loads of money gone into the palce recently. I'm lucky that its my usual Sunday ride.

The new red is finally almost complete, and an excellent, excellent route, well up there with the Welsh centres, CYB etc, and the 7Stanes.

Currently running at around 23 miles, 100% off road, rideable by most skill levels, it only gets harder the faster you go!

I know we're pretty spread out, but if anyone fancies it?

Thinking Sunday the 6th May? Any suggestions?

Ive just been there today. Its my usual ride most sundays, and i sometimes get up on a wednesday. I think the course is as close to scotland as you can get with big fast berms and good jumps. When we were there today they are excavating the grass opposite the main car park and it is going to be the last part of the ride. It looks good. I am drag racing on the 6th so wont be avalible but we might there week after. There is normaly between 2 and 5 of us..

Excellent - I was wondering where it was going to end. On Sunday I was diverted down the tarmac road, past the loading ramp, and into the village.

I am guessing then it will go up round the back of the village and down the grass to the car park.

Wher you came off the last section the trail is going to carry on over the road and go through the woods. Did you do a jump of the laoding ramp ?? If you turn right at the grassy bank at the bottom of the tarmac road and you can see where the trail comes out.. The last part opposite the car park looks fast..

When I got past it, I was thinking damm, I wish I was on my Big suspension bike!

Would be nice way to avoid slowing down for the gate...

Won't be there this weekend, but week after I'll be back, try and get my time down. Its always a race with me.

Really have to get myself booked onto GoApe aswell!

When we go around we are on a time scale we normaly set of from car park on sunday morning at 9am have a good ride round and need to set of home for 12 noon..

What big sus bike have you got ?? Do you use it for the red run at dalby or is it a 40ibs+ down hill rig ?

I have a scott ransom 10 with mavic sx wheels and a maveric speed ball seat post (best thing ive ever bought). It gets some hammering sometimes, Especially when i did the run at AE scotland. The last part ws the best with nice jumps and table tops to do, And i managed to stay on the bike

Hi mate - Got two bikes. One is a Dialled bikes Hardtail, Reynolds 853, Strong build, small frame, 5" bombers, tough wheels etc. Generally take this one to Dalby to do the XC.

Other bike is a Transition Dirtbag, 7" travel, RS boxxers, Single chainring. It set up as a DH bike at the moment, though its not strictly a DH frame. I have done a fair bit of XC on this setup!

With a set of Single crown forks, a full set of gears and a bit of a weight reduction its very capable. The fact is that being a DH'er, I find the riding XC is much more fun on a Hardtail, as its too easy otherwise. Nice to have the choice though!

9am, hmm, the problem I have is that Sunday comes after Saturday night, So I usually have to overcome a light bout of lagerbelly! Usually on the bike for half 11 though.

LoL, That is the problem with the time we ride ! The lad who i ride with has to be back for 12.45 to pick his daughter up from his snarling X. If he is late he gets slaver of her. My sunday morning rides are like church for me, I dont like to miss them

As for full sus being easier i can be a sloppy rider so having the bike and the strong wheels just help me when my riding turns to sh-t. Which is quite often wobble

Ill be able to see how far they have got on saturday evening when we do our sunday ride early..

We did the rest of the trail tonight From just above the loading ramp and it is mint and very fast. The last part before it drops on the grass above the car park there is some perfect berms you can just attack, Then there is a jump that i bottled and i am p155ed off that i didnt do it. It is around a 7 foot drop but your landing has to be cock on as you have a 2 foot wide path to land it on other wise your either in the trees or falling down the bankside banghead
