Removing speedo pickup from gearbox

I need to remove the speedo pickup / transducer from the gearbox on my S3. Undone the bolt but it won't come out.

Could someone please confirm if it is just supposed to then pull out of the socket? Judging by the bits of stuff around the sensor I suspect it may have been sealed with something to stop the leak and that is what's stopping it coming out.

I know you're all waiting for the answer and it is..... yes, it does just pull out, assuming someone hasn't bung a load of sealant on it.

Sorry I missed this... yep I had to change the one on my granada ages ago, it was the same, sealed in with silicone, but the manual said it just pulled out.

It comes out much easier if you take the gear leaver out and go in from the top.
