Self insure. What are you intended to hit with 4 wheel drive?! Good reason to drive a bit more carefully :-)

I might at several tracks, but not Folembray as there's little run off in some areas - and it's the first time I've taken the P1 on a track.

Are there any alternatives to Egger Lawson/Competition Car Insurance?????

Bloody robbery.

If you can find any decent priced alternatives let me know! Got similar prices from them and as Danny says, decided to self insure.

Folembray has reasonable run off as far as I recall, no???

PS. Can I have a ride in the P1? Never been in a Japanese monsta nutta mobile.

Hi Andrew,

I'll trade you for a passenger ride in the SR3 You'll be more than welcome to laugh at my ridiculous lines around the track

Am a little reticent to self insure on this occaision for the reasons above - haven't found any alternatives, but it appears like the premiums have gone up 150% in the last 2/3 years. If I find another insurer, I'll let you know...

See you on Saturday!

Hmm, I seem to remember some of those trees getting mightily close on a few occaisions. I think you just have to choose your corners where you take risks - i.e. on the swinging infield corners rather than the outfield ones!

It's a lot of cash, especially when you consider that BaT will load you an elise for the day for 500 quid for 2 drivers all insured with a 1k excess.

Track insurance does seem to be akin to robbery but I guess the risk is that much higher, so I'd still pay up to have to peace of mind.....

Well, it is bloody ridiculous especially when you consider I pay £680 a year for my T350C with Sunninghill and it INCLUDES track days at £1000 excess.

£350 for one day and a £3k excess on a £15k P1 is ridiculous.

Have you tried Egger Lawson Andy?

The quick left-right down the straight is the trickiest part.
Each time I went there with friends it ended up in expensive tears right in the trees over there.

Yeah, I take that one easy with my Chimaera's dodgy std suspension. Of course running out of brakes at the bottom of the hill isn't wise either.

Sounds about right. A group of us are off to Brands next week. Futie got the following quotes from Egger Lawson for us.

Cerbera £8,000 insured with £1200xs for £114
Corvette £35,000 insured with £5500xs for £495
XKR £45,000 insured with £7000xs for £638
Carrera 4 £60,000 insured with £9000 for £856
996 Turbo £95,000 insured with £15000xs £1342

Last car is mine. £1,342 for one day with a £15K excess!!!! My insurance actually covers track days (for £50 a pop) and it cost less than £2k for a whole year!
