NO HARROGATE SHOW THIS YEAR !!!!!
Discussion
Ive read on one of the kit car web sites that there is to be no kit car show this year at harrogate. It was a bad year in `06 for them so they are not having one in `07 but they are on about changine venue in `08, I bet it heads further south like all the other shows.
Is this correct ???

Can't confirm for deffo, but wouldn't be at all surprised. Since it's my Local Show ,I've been ~ 4 or 5 times in past 7 yrs, and have seen it decline slowly (they charged Kit Car drivers for entry so put them off, manufacturers turnout is generally very poor, and site is not so good and poorly organised. Like you it is a disappointment that we will not have a Yorkshire Kit Car event in 07 , but these are commercial enterprises so if they can't make £ they give up and hold antique fairs / car boots instead (yuk) !!

I heard it will be in Doncaster, hope so but not confirmed.
If so I really hope it comes off better than the last supposed Doncaster Kit and Sportcar Show : was advertised in mags / local papers ~ 4yrs ago and signs put up etc, so me and a fellow Dax owner from Sheffield convoyed over to Donny venue only to find NOTHING - Sec urity man said the organisor had not paid upfront for the site so it was off and replaced by another event (you guessed it ) a bl*#dy car boot sale instead !! (suffice to say we didn't stay and went for a burn-up round the country lanes and had an impromtue pub meet)..... FINGERS CROSSED

It seems as tho there is not enough intrest in kit cars so shows get moved or cancled leaving us
and with nowhere to go. Did you know that the yorkshire car show is on at pickering on the 10 june. It has all vehicles there even us kit car owners can take our cars.. You need a form to fill in and send to the event to book a place..
Hi Jago V8,
Yes I was aware, but sadly I can't be in 2 places at once and so can't make June 10 Show.
There are plenty of Dax Rush and Cobra in Yorks, plus loads of Westies, Locost, MK, Ginetta, Marcos, Jago , Quantum and Sylva kitcars hooning around Sheffield / Leeds / Bradford area (I see'em all the time since I drive around these areas for a living).
Problem is many just want to drive 'em and trackday 'em, and aren't interested in Clubs or Shows once they've bled us die-hards dry of info on "how to do", "where to get", "the best one is" etc , etc - ie. they are blaggers / have no time for social side of Kit scene. That means Owners Clubs are hard to keep going, show turn out is poor, and we have to put up with sharing shows (with Classics - which is OK, or Max Power brigade - which is definitely not my bag).
Only pressure from Owners Clubs will ensure future shows IMHO.
Keep t the racing line,
