I think Chapel is about as near to the action as you can get. On the infield side of the Dunlop Bridge. Our friends camped there last year and we watched the cars going through the esses towards Tetre Rouge from their pitch.

The downside is that it's completely open to anyone with a general entrance ticket and thus you get heaps of Joe Public strolling through. Our friends had some drinks stolen, and their neighbours lost a generator. Plus, cos it was dry last year the place rivaled the Sahara for dustyness, everything was filthy.

Look at the camping guide on Beer Mountain.com for second opinion

Chappel hardly has a monopoly on dust at Le Mans!

Very true, but it seems to have copped for more than it's fair share dust, probably due to the lack of grass. There was a newish Porsche 911 on there in '05, someone had scribbled all-over it with there finger in the dust. I'd have been a bit miffed if it was my car.

On the plus side, toilets were clean with short queues.
