These were my first trackday pics - tell you what, it saves a lot of hassle having to stage a shot!

Hope you don't mind me posting!

Look like a fun event.

Try a longer shutter speed to create more of a sense of movement.

You mean so the background is blurred. I do that on my action shots for work but these are just a bit more frenetic - glad I chose the hairpin though - the speed of some of those cars

The front of the EVO in the second pic (of the evo) is annoyingly not in focus

Yes, very nippy that that one wasn't in focus. I did think twice about posting it but I still like the drama of the shot. It's bloody difficult to get the focus spot on isn't it - framing is no prob with the fantastic Canon lens and body!

Best thing was an endless supply of cars!

Love the Ultima and the flames

Also... I found the 350D much less easy to use than the 30D for these shots - tried both with the same lens. Much more difficult to get two or three shots of the same car - presume the buffers are different?

Bit too much motion blur on the majority of them, unfortunately.

Great pics - my 2p worth - either improve your panning to get the cars sharper or reduce the shutter speed a touch (to maintain blur/increase sharpness of the cars)

Ultima super looking car. Like what you've done with the last shot too.

Well, it was my first go at trackday stuff and a bit different from the shoots I normally do, not to mention using a different lens and camera for half of it! But I just wanted to share some car pics. Cheers for the advice

Thanks for the constructive comments. Feel free to post your own shots here if you want to demonstrate what you mean....

start off at say 1/200s and see what happens then work your way down as you improve. you'll soon get the hang of what shutter speed to use for each car, corner, angle etc etc. here are a few from KH, not the greatest as I'm still learning. getting betetr the mroe I do it.

Do like 1 and 2, although certainly 1 would probably be a little better either side-on or slightly from the front, rather than the back.

2, despite not being as crisp, works quite well from the back as you're getting the impression of the back working/sliding.

TVR excellent - the water adds real drama! Got a shot going in a coffee table book like that but with a 911!
