Hiya, is it possible to change the seats in a early chimaera easily to update the interior without messing around with the runners?
Do any other TVR seat designs fit, or perhaps other manufacturers?

pics would be nice if any one has done this.

cheers

I believe that in the last Chimaeras to be made they put Cerbera seats in some of them, IIRC.

I dont know whether or not they have the same attachements though.

There are a couple in the classifieds if you have look, they look quite good IMO.

Yes they do fit pretty easily.

I bought a pair of the Cerbera seats from Bell Hill TVR breakers near Bath, and fitted them into my 98 'R' Plate Chimaera! They are a little tight where they touch the transmission tunnel, so you need to make sure that you route the bulb for the lumbar support where it will not get snagged!
Also I used a couple of runner blocks to raise the front of the seat slightly, as this makes forward/aft adjustment easier as it does not catch the carpet.

I would recommend the mod as the seats are much more supportive than the std units!

Hope this helps,

Cerby4.5

Hmmm...scratchchin...food for thought.

If you don't mind me asking, how much were the seats from Bell Hill Garage and what condition were they in?

As I have 'inherited' Cerby4.5's old Chim, I can only say that the Cerb seats are not only in good nick, but supportive and comfortable too. Longest journey so far has been 5 hours back from Chatsworth with no aches or pains. I do find that the RH armrest is too low though, and have used a 2" pad to get the height right. When I can work out how to do this neatly it will be made permanent.

Ian.

(Cerby4.5 - Trev is fine, got some Wilwood brakes on the front now, and have booked a Ride-Drive day in a couple of weeks)

The seats were in excellent condition, and were actually a better colour match than the originals (as they had faded), although instead of being magnolia all over they were magnolia with blue seat cushion and back. I can't remember the price but they did me a great deal as took the old ones in P/X!!

I would recommend dealing with Bell Hill as they were very helpful to me, I also sourced the 'Corrado' style mirrors from there as well (another job I had done to the car!

Hi Ian, great to hear you are still enjoying the car, and like the sound of the (further) upgrades! I am sure you will enjoy the ride drive day as have heard many good reports about them!

Just one thing:
Please remember..........if you ever want to sell the car, please give me first refusal, as I would buy it back in a heartbeat!!

Best regards,

Scott.

Maybe £100-150 each?? Sorry but really can't remember.
Although I do recall it was significantly cheaper than trying to buy aftermarket seats and make them fit!

Jonka,

Thats cheap - Bell Hill quoted me £800 for a pair, can I ask where you managed to find them?
