Opinions needed on S3 with NA HC engine
Discussion
I need your help/guidance yet again (at least its not costing me precious ££££ yet!).
If an S3 Esprit has a HC engine (not a standard Esprit model ? - engine Excel I think), what would you think as its not standard.
Is it frowned upon or not?
It seems to me to be a good idea to get 180 bhp than 160
Should the cost of the car be higher or lower or remain unchanged?
Thanks AGAIN

I think that I am right in saying that there was a factory HC version of the NA S3.
It was only offered in the 1987 model year.
The output was not the full 180hp of the Excel because of the more restrictive exhaust necessary on the Esprit.
If the car you are looking at is earlier than 1987 then it is likely to be a home made version, which may be either a good thing or a bad thing depending on who did it.
If the job has been well done, I can't imagine it makes much difference to value either way. If the vendor hadn't told you about it, would you ever have known?
