Holden and HSV have been asked of potential use.

Sounds exactly like the L92 engine. Same offset arms and valve spec's.
Maybe just minor changes like the hollow valves, different intake manifold design etc.
Though it suggests the block is redesigned too. Im thinking its pretty much the L92 with a little evolution rather than revolution involved.
Basically the same as the Holden VE L98/L76 engine albeit in 6.2L trim.

Will be interesting to see what the details are after the first person pulls one apart.

Reinforces the question why HSV are staying with the old 2004 LS2 engine when the Corvette and Holden Commodores have moved onto the newer style heads/engines?

Since the LS2 is ending production, I don't see Holden (or anyone else) having a choice in what engine they use. That'll probably mean the VXR8 gets it sooner rather than later (bit like the '04 to '05 Monaro VXR)

My thoughts exactly as suggested on the other thread. I'll know soon enough.

Boosted.

You'd have to feel sorry though for the few hundred odd buyers of the VXR8's when then they havent even gone on sale yet, while the Series 2 HSV's with LS3 arent that far of release down here.
Sounds alot like the last LS1 5.7 engines that were offloaded to NZ while the L76 6.0 was used in Australia in the VZII.
Its been well documented here and on other forums that the LS2 is inferior to the ordinary L76 and L98, let alone the LS3.
The LS2 will be quickly forgotten, and enjoyed the shortest run of any particular engine in the Corvette, except for the old Blue Flame 6 back in the 50's.

confused Does this mean that when you buy a new VXR8 it's going to have an old engine ?????
I wonder how long it may be before it gets the LS3 ?????????

V-Car, do you know the S2 models will get the LS3?
Makes sense if they do, but Ive not seen any confirmation.

Andy, Im sure Vauxhall will bring them in when they are released. It looks like they have committed to ~300PA for a few years.
Though I wonder if as V-Car says they will end up getting all the end of line stuff. Afterall the Monaro stopped production years ago and the stock has only just all been sold.

I don't see the LS2 being forgotten - it's in the Monaro, GTO and the best Corvette for years - and plenty were produced.

I DO think initial VXR8 owners are going to be unhappy 12 months down the road, though.
