Afternoon all...was wondering has anyone had their radiators recored...or do most people just get a new one...and if so is there an upgraded one available...?

Cheers

Some of the fellahs that give their cars a pounding on track days may disagree, butI'm told from those that know that recored rads last longer than some of the more expensive alloy versions. Provided the job is done properly, the recored rads cool the engines just fine, and you can save a few pennies in the tin labelled 'Just when the Credit Card gets paid off - here we go again!'

Getting a re-core is easy and alot cheaper. Had mine done on the cerb last year and made a real difference. The core is of a land rover, and most places do a 24H turn around about £100.

Recore is well worth it, your car will run about 10* cooler afterwards. Go for a company that knows TVR's, The Rad may be based on a Land Rover, but the core is very different.

Oh no it isn't, the guys that did mine have been re-coring rads since 1960's and are well known in Birmingham. They've done loads of TVRs and the core is off a land rover/range rover.

The core is different to a standard Land Rover one on which the end caps are based, but lets not argue about it - a Re-core is definitely money well spent.

I've just had mine recored. It cost £150 and was ready to collect the next day!
