A friend has a one owner 1987 Kawasaki GPX750 that's only done 3,500 miles and looks and rides like new.

What do you reckon it's worth?

£600-£700?? at least twice as much as that if the bike is as described by the threadstarter. The age of the bike doesnt really come into the equation.
Check out some of the prices for sports bikes of the 1980's in Classic & Motorcycle Mechanics magazine classified section.

I would agree, £6-700 is too low. I regularly look at older bikes on ebay and auto trader, as I quite fancy something to use during winter. You can't get a decent large bike for this sort of money. I would expect to pay anything up to £1500 or so for that, providing it's immaculate. What it has against it is that it's not one of the more recognised and sort after classics like the Gixxers, FZR's and GPZ's, so it may go for less.

I can't be arsed to dig through all the tyre manufacturers, but there are still a lot of bikes that use 16" front wheels. MACADAM 100 X Front MACADAM 100 X Rear

correct size for the gpx are
100/90/16
140/70/18
not at all common these days and if you needed sport tyres you are completely out of luck as well as what is available
being quite expensive.

Or you could have .type

All "V Rated"

IN 100/90-16.

Avon AM26 £75.35

Avon AM20 £77.55

Continental £60.52

All more than capable of keeping a 20 year old 750 sunny side up.

I agree toatlly, it wasnt much of a desired bike when it was launched and has no racing pedigree...mainly because the frame became rather flexy under hard use, i remember they ended up bracing them in the end, nowt wrong with the motor thou from my recollections

having said that, i would say £600-£700 is far to low, it'll be worth as much as anyone is prepared to pay for it...its gotta be worth at least £1500 thou..If it was mine and was as mint as described, id put it up for 2K ONO

Still not a bad looking bike in the black colour scheme either

I've run two of them over 35,000 miles mostly as work bikes.

16 inch front is fine with Battlax rubber. Hell I ran on Super Venoms for a long while as an advanced instructor - used to piss off the pupils on their rice rockets.

Great comfort, very economical, sound lovely and there's a blue/white G-plate identical to my last one which I keep seeing near me.

Gotta be about a grand.

When i was 15 i lusted after one of them!
Doesn't it have the same engine as the H1/2 ZXR's, just with smaller carbs?

I believe so - hence it's as quick if not as sweet handling.
