Just replaced mine as it was sticking, only searched for 5 minutes but RPI seemed competative, from memory about £50 with postage, Quoted £67+VAT by my normally cheap independant LR indie yikes
Worth getting your timing checked again afterwards, mine was a mile advanced

Yes, std Vac unit just fixes (funny selection of screws/bolts/tamperprrofs IIRC) in to the side.
Dizzy is only special in the counter-weighting for advance.

I'd wonder why the people who serviced it didn't replace it. It could be causing all sorts of problems, so how can you tell what else is wrong until you've fixed the known problems?

What! so you won't pay the bill I send you for the service then?

It simply progressively advances the spark when your engine is sucking (as well as the centrifugal weights in the dizzy). If you dont get enough advance the engine willl start to fire down the exhaust (hint: the mixture can take a relatively long time to burn compared to how quickly the engine is sucking it in & pushing it out). You could also have the symptoms of an air leak - ie all the steppery motor type complaints of unmetered air.

Hi and thanks for the comments,
It was only a 6k service and i don't think they would of tuned the engine at this stage.
A bit of background for you,
I won this service at the auction for london thunder so the indie garage was doing the work for nothing i did get a invoice for more than i won the auction for.
I thought i got treated fairley and they did do other repairs FOC
As this item is advisory and the HT leads i will replace them myself then get the timing checked.
I have just come back from a weekend away the longest drive ive had in the chim 460 miles the car did'nt miss a beat. Also did't spot any tivs till i got to WSM
Average 250 miles out of a tankfull so the car can't be that bad.
Regards all.
