Having spent an afternoon and evening diagnosing and replacing a water sensor, today my speed sensor seems to have packed up. No fault code has come up, the digital readout is still proudly displaying zero and the needle behaves as normal during start up sequence ... but then nothing.

Anyone else had this? Am I correct to assume its the sensor?

Probably the sensor. Could just be a connection - maybe there is a plug on the sensor. Its on the diff.

There was a mk1 sensor (crap) and a mk2 sensor from 2005ish on (most have been replaced). Easy fit, but I'm not sure if you need to adjust it to read correctly.

Just been doing some searching on general thread and things get a little clearer. As you say the sensor is mounted on the diff, and is triggered by the notches machined into the round plate the driveshaft bolts to. I've put a new JP exhaust on today and the diff received a bit of wellie to get 'box and tail pipes lined up. Seems the gap between the sensor and the notched wheel is cruical and needs to be quite close - a bit like a bicycle computer, I guess. So, it sounds like its a self administered fault. Hey ho, back on stands tomorrow for a bit of fiddling

I've had this happen to mine.
The sensor is on the diff and the cables lead to a connection in the boot. I just replaced the sensor and all is fine. However, after replacing the sensor and the ECU for the pod itself(the manual rev counter wasn't working attal) the readings on both the speedo and the rev counter are slightly out. The rev counter reads on the needle 200/300rpm more than its doing and the speedo reads on thhe needle 8mph less than its doing. The digital display reads correctly. Its not a major problem but just wondering if there is any way of adjusting it so it all reads correctly? Any help appreciated.

To adjust the RPM & MPH needle zero's on the sagaris;
Select Factory on the pod; just change the numbers up or down to zero.
This i think compensates for different cable resistance & lengths
Hope it helps on yours

Thanx very much for that, I will try it when I get the car back from the engine being rebuilt.

Top bloke. I've just got my car back from the garage and tried the factory setting on the pod like you said. All is working fine and oh so simple when you know how!It was really bugging me aswell.

Thanks again!
