Is there anyone out there that can post the published performance figures of a standard tt and a car fitted with the X50 engine upgrade
is there any difference at all? I have heard the x50 is more laggy - how does this manifest itself in real world driving situations?
any advice or information will be gratefully received.
all in the interest of science of course. not interested in them myself at all

Cant tell you much about a x50, but what I can tell you is today I drove a 997tt
. All I can say is that the power was simply stunning, you cannot beleive a car can move that fast.No real noise to speak about, no drama just floor it and near instant power fires you forward at a stupid rate. Driven some quick cars, but this was levels above. To make matters worse it was a tip which was also excellent, (sorry Loach)seamless delivery. Since I've got in I've been looking down the back of the sofa emptied all the piggy banks anything I can to find the 100k necessary!

Does that mean he's taken the plunge and gone and got 1?

In answer to your question above, I'd say laggy my arse. That's not an invitation, by the way. Just hang on to your eyelids - those things are seriously rapid.

Autocar has some figs;
911TT 0-60--3.9
0-100-9.4
0-150-22.1
X50 0-60--3.8
0-100-8.43
0-172-30
Mark.
Well done mate look forward to seeing some sexy pics. Off to bathroom now to try and srub this green complexion of my face that I seem to have just developed.
Just read this back and realised how much it sounded like a letter out of the GT purley Porsche post bag.
Sorry, and once again congratulations. It really is hard to type through gritted teeth

No it was a friends car asked me if I fancied a blast! You can imagine how long it took me to say yes! I knew it was going to be quick but it really is at another level.

But I thought the GT2 was faster (it is afterall lighter) and the stats I have for the 462bhp GT2 are:
0-60mph 3.9s
0-100mph 8.3s
??
0-60mph 3.9s
0-100mph 8.3s
??
Regretting your purchase?
Congrats Darren, look forward to seeing it at some point.
thanks fer
yes im gutted at the thought that it might take as long as 4 seconds to get to 60mph.....
as for the stats JW - as you know the performance figures Porsche publish often bear no resemblance to the car's actual times
i know when autocar tested the first 996 turbo they got far better figures out of it than Porsche published

I think you'll enjoy it.

cheers Daz - yes i think i will
now ive got to sort out insurance. you know the sketch
"its a 991 turbo with an engine upgrade"
"ah its been modified. we do not insure modified cars sir"
"no its not modified, its a factory fit porsche extra"
"so its not been modified then sir"...........

Well there normal and then there is road test cars so a standard one may be even slower!!
GT2 figs as you say are;
0-60...3.9sec
0-100..8.3sec
0-150..19.9sec
Looking at the 911TT figs and the GT2 you pay an extra £20000, you gain 43bhp and loose 90kilos, all this saving a grand total of
2.2secs on your 0-150mph time.
However I have read somewhere that the GT2 might be a better drive than the 911TT.
