It gets pretty hot under the bonnet!!

Got the 390SE running a bit better now. Got the injectors cleaned, replaced the little bits of well-hardened hose, and get the timing at about 8 degrees BTDC at 850RPM with no vac advance.
So far so good, but it still gets rather warm under the bonnet.
It doesnt even get near overheating when "pressing on" at 69MPH, but it does get hot in traffic. The needle gets above the "90" lettering, and on towards the top white line.
This tells me that the rad, thermostat and waterpump are all fine, but I think the leccy cooling fan is poo. Plus the dangly bits of rubber on the back of the rad tend to get caught up in hoses etc...
Is this a familiar story to other Wedgers out there?
Your opinions would be apreciated, as its gonna be a hot summer!!!!

My fan was on the way out, it wasn't obvious with the blades attached to the spindle. Turning the blades by hand and you could hear a heck of a grinding. Blades acted like a good lever and until I had removed them and tried to turn the spindle by hand, I hadn't realised it had all but seized up although still turned under power.

I should check that out. A reasonable picture of two coiled wires
